The rolling green hills of Durbanville and surroundings are a region steeped in history. In the seventeenth century a group of vryburghers settled here, drawn by the fertile soil and moderate climate.
The town of Durbanville, which is 29km from Cape Town and close to the sea, grew from an outspan known as Pampoenkraal. On the outskirts of the town one finds historic farms.
